Sway-A-Way Coilover Rebuild - Page 4

This is a pictorial version of the maintenance that I did on my Sway-A-Way RaceRunner shocks. It is a record of my own personal experience and is NOT intended to be a replacement for the manufacturers installation instructions and/or recommendations.

Here is a picture of the shaft with the coil removed. Next, you will want to remove the red anodized seal cap. You will need an allen wrench to remove the 3 allen screws that hold it in place.
Remove the allen screws and seal cap. The black ring you see tight to the chromoly shaft is the "wiper seal", which is one of the seals you will be replacing.

Once you have the seal cap removed, you will see the seal carrier inside the can. It is held in place with a circlip that sits in a groove inside the can. (click pic to enlarge.)

You will need to depress the seal carrier slightly into the can to expose the circlip and then use a small screwdriver or pick to pry the circlip out.
